50 years of the VW Golf: Markus' Golf 1 Cabrio from 1989

From garage find to wedding car.

Made in Osnabrück: Like about 392,000 of his brothers, this "strawberry basket" once rolled off the production line at Karmann. The Golf Mk1 Convertible remained in the range for more than 14 years from 1979 to 1993. In 1988, there was a facelift with larger bumpers, widenings and radiator grille. Markus liked the old radiator grille better, because here he could mount the red frame that was actually only used for the Golf GTI Convertible - for the British market. In addition to BBS rims and a special paint job, he retrofitted RECARO seats, which was actually available as an extra option. In the Golf Convertible Sportline, they were standard.
