Classic Stories #6 - 50 years of the VW Golf: Fabis Golf Mk1 from 1974.

For the many a completely normal Golf Mk1, for experts a sensation - because this marino-yellow Golf Mk1 is probably one of the oldest examples that have survived to this day.

Produced on 16. August 1974 and restored by its owner with great attention to detail, it now looks almost better than new. Of course, it has the rear panel with "swallowtail" and still has the Golf LS lettering (made of metal, of course!) on the left side of the tailgate. The fir-green fabric covers with leatherette sides were only available up to July 1975, the EA 827 engine with 1.5 l displacement and 70 hp (code letter FH) only up to August 1975 and the colour marino yellow (L 20A) disappeared from the range in 1976.

In addition to the "Volkswagen Stockholm" sticker in the rear window, the steering wheel with enlarged baffle plate and the standard reversing lights bear witness to its first delivery to Sweden. The headlight cleaning system, which was also originally available, is no longer installed.
